1992... where it began

Mara was born in Riga, Latvia . All her youth she spent in her grandmother's farm house in the countryside, where she grew up and built her great love for nature and naturalism. Since she was a child she loved wandering in the forests and fields, picking up herbs and hunting mushrooms. Mara was born into a musical family, where her sisters and father played instruments. In her younger years she was shy to take to the stage, once even pulling her dress up over her face, when she first sang on front of other people. Nevertheless, her parents saw her passion , love and talent for music and singing at a very young age.

Mara's introduction to education began in a music school, after that followed professional high school of music , where she learned the style of classical singing and then jazz. Fast forward to 2020, Mara graduated Amsterdam Conservatory of Music and today she sings, teaches and performs music while living in the south of Holland, Maastricht. For several years Mara's focus has been breath work and connection between body, breath and voice.

Mara's interests lie in traditional Latvian folk singing and mantra chanting. She is busy with healing music, moon ceremonies, guided breath and sound meditations and traditional Latvian sauna rituals.

Mara feels very deeply connected to her Latvian roots and traditions. The name Mara in Latvian mythology actually means the mother earth, a feminine side of God and the mother of the material world. This plays a big role in how Mara sees life and how she feels so grateful to be able to give and share the gift of music.

Collaboration and working together

In November 2024, I embarked on an exciting collaboration at a truly special place: Elaisa Energetic Wellness in Belgium. It has been a long-held dream of mine to work here, and I incredibly grateful to share my voice and my traditions with the people at Elaisa. By offering Latvian Pirts sauna sessions, scrub treatments, and more, I able to fulfill my purpose, while connecting to nature and finding my inner peace.

September of 2024, I started to give Controlled Breathing workout lesson at the Earth Tone studio near Maastricht. I am so grateful for this space, because I am able to share my knowledge to people that are so very eager to work on their mental and physical health. Stephanie, the owner of the studio is inspiring me and other Yogis with her spirited presence and glow. This space allows not only me but others to feel safe, relaxed and open minded while practicing. In 2025 I started my first sound journey at Earth tone studio, doing guided sound meditation with instruments and voice.
